More than 140 foreigners, including from Bulgaria, the United States, India and Vietnam, have been evacuated from Ukraine’s Kherson region on the Crimean peninsula, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014

The foreign nationals arrived by bus in the town of Armyansk on the peninsula this morning. A total of 141 people were evacuated by the Russian military.

The evacuation of foreigners wishing to leave Ukraine was organized at the request of the relevant embassies, said the Russian Ministry of Defense.

In connection with the complicating situation earlier today, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry called all Bulgarian citizens to leave Ukraine using the evacuation trains.
