The issue of the borders of the self-proclaimed “DNR” and “LNR” will be resolved in the future, said on Tuesday, February 22, the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, writes TASS.
“It was necessary to stop the development of events associated with human casualties, therefore, the reality that had formed was recognized. Everything else – the development of statehood, the development of diplomatic relations – is a matter for the future. There are sovereign countries, states that have not resolved the issue of borders or simply do not borders have been fixed, this is all around. Therefore, this is all a matter of the future, which will be resolved,” Zakharova said.
She also said that the meeting scheduled for February 24 in Geneva between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken had not been cancelled.
“We have not heard any statements from the other side that would change their plans. We are always ready for the negotiation process. And in the most difficult, tense moments, we never refused to negotiate,” she said.
