He told parliament he had communicated the British government’s concerns on the matter to Russian Defense Minister Shoigu. Russia conducted an investigation on 10 October and claimed that the cause was a technical malfunction.

He added that Russia has confirmed that the crash occurred in international airspace and patrols are now resumed, with British fighter planes escorted.
