Russian artist Oleg Spigin, with his show of ‘washintong trapeze’, has won the Cirquijote de Oro, the highest award at the XIII Albacete International Circus Festival. This same artist has also won the Pinito de Oro award given by the Association of Friends of Historical Theaters (AMIThE) and Arcos. After four days of competition, in which 21 artists from different countries have participated, -from Taiwan to Italy, passing through Mexico or Ukraine-, the jury has unveiled this Monday after the Quijote Gala, the winners of the different awards.

Two duos, both from Ukraine, have won a Silver Cirquijote. The jury has considered deserving of this award Alex and Liza, present for the first time in Albacete with an acrobatic adage; and also to him Duo The Kiss, made up of the dancer Genia and the artist Kateryna, also Ukrainians, who have brought a Pole Aéreo show to Albacete.

In the Bronze Cirquijote category, the jury has awarded three of the shows presented. Specifically, this award has been Duo Beige, a dental aerial tape show hosted by Kelly Joo and Angelika Janickova, artists from the Czech Republic. Also the Cuban Hermes Pompa, trained at the National Circus School of his country, finalist of the television program Got Talent, has been recognized with a bronze for his Air Pole show. This same award has been awarded by the jury to another Cuban artist, Sandra Lucía Martínez Díaz, which has brought to Albacete an aerial hoop show entitled Kerleankoff (passion for art). This same artist has been the recipient of the Cirquijote del Público award given by spectators who attend the competition galas by popular vote.

Also, in this edition, prizes have been awarded to young talents. In this category, there have been two Golden Cirquijotes: one for Serhii & Milana, 12 and 8 years old respectively, with their aerial tape show, and another for Ameli bilyk, a young Ukrainian who despite her youth (15 years) has already won awards at other circus festivals with her loose wire show, in December without going any further she won gold at the 1st International Youth Festival in Yekaterinburg (Russia).

This XIII International Circus Festival does not end with this final gala, as a selection of the best artists will continue to perform at the Teatro Circo in the so-called Galas de las Estrellas, which will take place on February 13, 14, 15 and 16. Likewise, it should be remembered that this year the International Festival will culminate in the performance on February 28 and 29 and on March 1 of the Great Acrobatic Circus of China. Film screenings at the Albacete Film Library, circus shows at the Teatro de la Paz for children and on February 12 the Clavileño Gala, which will be free for young people from 16 to 30 years old and who will star in Rolling Circus, by El Bonillo, complete the program that has been prepared this year.
