Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Israel Anatoly Viktorov asked for an “urgent meeting” with Knesset Speaker Mickey Levy. The statement came after reports that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the Israeli parliament.

This is reported Walla.

It is assumed that Viktorov will oppose Zelensky’s appeal. In addition, he may ask to invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to speak in the Knesset.

At the same time, the Russian embassy stated that the meeting will concern the development of Russian-Israeli inter-parliamentary relations. In turn, Levy’s office denied reports of a dispute between Israel and the Russian Federation over the speech.

“There is no crisis. The Russians asked for a meeting, and we agreed, as with the Ukrainian ambassador. We meet with the ambassadors almost every week,” Levy’s spokesman said.

Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak noted that the suspension of the visa-free regime and the introduction of the system of electronic permits of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for entry into Israel for citizens of Ukraine is an unfriendly movewhich needs to be fixed immediately.
