Russia | Star Wars enthusiasts reproduce a Mandalorian ship

(Yakutsk) The Razor Crest has landed in Yakutsk! In one of the coldest cities in the world, Siberian Star Wars fans reproduced the series’ spaceship The Mandalorian, with impressive realism.

The starship used in the Star Wars series by the mysterious bounty hunter Din Djarin now sits proudly on a snow-capped hill overlooking Yakutsk, capital of the Russian republic of Sakha, in Siberia.

Made of fiberboard, metal and plastic foam, the ship is four meters high and “weighs more than a ton,” Aïaal Fyodorov, 28, told AFP. months to build it with friends.

They tried to meticulously recreate the interior of the ship, which features a ramp and even a seat for baby Yoda, the tiny creature that the bounty hunter is an unlikely duo with.

The destruction of the ship during the second season of the series had been a “shock” for Aïaal Fyodorov and his friends. “We were very motivated to build it. Like we’re inside the show and rebuilding the ship, ”he explained.

The young man assures that the project cost him 750,000 rubles (about 12,750 Canadian dollars). To achieve this, he first used his savings, then sold his car before asking Russians and companies to help him.

For a result which was worth it, assures it: “It is the only reproduction of vessel of this kind in the world”.

And Razor Crest has become an attraction for visitors and locals alike, but also an inspiration to a region that has experienced a surprising rise in the film industry, to the point of earning the ironic nickname “Sakhawood”.

“Honestly, I didn’t expect it to turn out so well,” said Semion Chichiguine, director of a studio called Taragai Cinema, on a family visit to admire the ship.

“There are a lot of locals here, and most of them have come to see the ship. It is simply fantastic! ”
