Russia returned money to Slovakia for the Sputnik V vaccine

Sputnik V vaccine quarreled between Russia and Slovakia

The agreement on the supply of two million doses of the drug, concluded by the previous government of Slovakia, may break down.

In Slovakia, a scandal flared up with renewed vigor around the supply of the Russian vaccine against the Sputnik V coronavirus. On the eve of the country’s Deputy Prime Minister Igor Matovic, Russia had refunded the money for already transferred 200 thousand doses of the drug.

Thus, the agreement on the supply of two million doses of the drug, concluded by the previous government of Slovakia, may break down.

Matovic blamed the incident on the Slovak State Institute for Drug Control, which he said had “compromised Russian partners” with its critical statements about the Russian vaccine.

According to the medical regulator, Russia sold to Slovakia the Sputnik V vaccine, which differs from approved by the scientific journal TheLancet.

Matovich called the message “misleading” and called it part of the campaign against the Russian vaccine.

As you know, the Prime Minister of Slovakia Igor Matovich resigned because of the Sputnik V vaccine. The government crisis in the country began after the prime minister announced his intention to purchase a Russian vaccine, despite the fact that the drug did not receive approval from the European and local regulators.

In turn, Russia demanded from Slovakia return 2 million doses of Sputnik V vaccine.
