MOSCOW – A security officer Russia reveals that the Moscow military expelled a warship English from the waters near Crimea. This expulsion occurred last October, but was only revealed yesterday.

The British Royal Navy warship HMS Dragon was repelled by the Moscow Navy and Air Force after it entered Russian territorial waters near Crimea.

Russia annexed Crimea’s Black Sea peninsula from Ukraine in 2014, prompting sanctions and condemnation from the West. Kieb wants the territory back in his lap.

Vladimir Kulishov, the first deputy head of the FSB security service, said on Thursday that Russia had told the warship not to enter its waters. However, the ship crossed the border area on October 13 near southern Crimea.

He said HMS Dragon, described by the British Navy as an air defense destroyer, had exercised the right “innocent passage“.

Innocent passage” is the concept of a waterway that allows ships to transit in the territorial waters of a foreign coastal State in a manner that is not prejudicial to their peace, order or security.

Kulishov told the news agency RIA that Moscow had asked the ship to leave its waters immediately, and the warship captain replied that signal reception was poor.

“The warship was driven into neutral waters by the joint action of the Russian Navy and Air Force,” Kulishov said.

The British Ministry of Defense was not immediately available for comment on Kulishov’s claims.

The incident comes as Russia’s relations with Britain and its Western allies, including the United States, deteriorate to post-Cold War lows amid tensions over issues including the Ukraine crisis, the Arctic crisis, Russia’s treatment of jailed opposition figures; Alexey Navalny, and allegations of cybermalfeasance.

On Tuesday, the US and Russia announced President Joe Biden and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin will hold a long-awaited summit in Geneva, Switzerland, next month.

The June 16 meeting will be the first between the two leaders since Biden took office as U.S. president in January.
