Several people were killed and injured on Monday when gunshots were fired at a Russian school in the city of Izhevsk. The national investigation commission spoke of 15 deaths in the afternoon, including eleven children. The investigating authority also confirmed that there were 24 injured, including 22 schoolchildren.
The perpetrator committed suicide, as confirmed by the Ministry of the Interior of the Udmurt Republic. “In Udmurtia today there was a tragedy in Izhevsk in school No. 88,” said Governor Alexander Brechalov. “There are victims and injured children”.
In the afternoon, the investigators called the identity of the author: it was a 34-year-old who was once a student of school no.88. The Kremlin described the deadly blows as a “terrorist act”. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the author “apparently belonged to a neo-fascist organization or group”. Investigators said the man wore a black T-shirt with Nazi symbols and a balaclava.
According to official information, nearly 1,000 students study at school # 88 and 80 teachers teach here. Udmurtia is a republic in the European part of the Russian Federation, Izhevsk is its capital, it is located about 1000 kilometers east of Moscow.

According to a report by Zeitung Komsomolez of Moscow there have been at least two announcements in school # 88 since last year, but no one has been found willing to take care of the protection of students and teaching staff. According to the newspaper, a security company was on duty on the day of the rampage.
