Rush Limbaugh died, a radio host well known in the United States for his conservative positions. He was 70, and a year ago he announced he had lung cancer. It was his wife, Kathryn Limbaugh, who broke the news: she did it on the radio, during what was her husband’s program so far, The Rush Limbaugh Show.
The program, which aired since 1988, was one of the most watched radio talk shows in the United States (it was broadcast across the country), and had made him one of the most celebrated figures on the American right. Limbaugh was known, among other things, for his very conservative positions on racism, LGBT issues, feminism and consent in sexual relations, and on climate change. Limbaugh also promoted a very long series of conspiracy theories.
From 1992 to 1996 Limbaugh also hosted a television show; wrote seven books, the first two very successful. In 2020 Donald Trump had awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the most important US civilian honor.
