My ma has switched from Pixel C to Surface Go (as primary computer).
Pixel C was perfect, only hardware and updates were bad, so try something different.

She misses even Wordfeud on that, nothing can be done about it vziw.
I also think Conversations is the best XMPP client (for her), which is also only for Android.
The built-in mail client / address book does not work properly with our CardDAV server. Mss I can still replace the CardDAV server, but I have my limits.
Thunderbird works fine with that, but it has poor touch support.
Speaking of touch, with LibreOffice that was also difficult, but mss there is one better alternative.

That’s why I was waiting for a ChromeOS (or Android) ROM to be ready for the Surface Go, so she can use all her old trusted apps again, which she also has on her phone.
But, if Windows can also run Android apps, that would be a better solution.
