[Rumeur] Xbox Series S mentioned on the Xbox Series X controller packaging – news

The rumor of a second new generation console at Microsoft resurfaces today. Several photos showing the new Xbox controller, in white version, and its packaging were distributed by an Internet user. In the list of compatible devices displayed on the side, a certain Xbox Series S is mentioned.

The user says he got the controller from a resale site between individuals, while Tom Warren of the site The Verge confirms for its part the authenticity of these images. Mentioned in rumors for many months already, but also in official Microsoft development documents, the Xbox Series S (code name Lockhart), has not yet been formalized by its manufacturer, as has the white version of the Xbox Series X controller. A presentation would however be scheduled this month, according to the sources ofEurogamer and of VentureBeat.

Compatible with Xbox Series X games, the Xbox Series S would be less powerful and less expensive than its big sister. According to information from Tom Warren, it would offer 7.5 GB of RAM (against 13.5 GB of RAM on Xbox Series X), around 4 teraflops for the GPU (against 12 teraflops for the Xbox Series X) and a CPU similar. Microsoft would position the Xbox Series S as a 1080p and 1440p machine, while the Xbox Series X targets 4K resolution.

Microsoft has not yet commented on these rumors.
