Rui Rio says that CDS, Chega and Iniciativa Liberal are worth ‘half a dozen votes’

The president of the PSD, Rui Rio, affirmed that it is “at the center” that the legislative elections are decided, stressing that CDS, Chega and Liberal Initiative represent “half a dozen votes”.

In Barcelos, at the end of the congress of Social-Democratic Mayors, Rui Rio explained that this is why he has been betting on the “recentring” of the party.

“If we are going to dispute the CDS, Chega and IL electorates now [Iniciativa Liberal], there are half a dozen votes. I don’t know how you win elections with that half-dozen votes, and on top of that you run the risk of losing something to the center,” he said.

Therefore, Rio underlined that it is “at the center” that the PSD can win the elections.

That’s the awareness I’ve had for a few years. That’s where we can win and that’s where the elections decide,” he added.

Also this Saturday, in Barcelos, Rio said that it will be on Tuesday that the PSD will decide whether it goes to elections alone or in coalition. In case of a coalition, he added, it can only be extended to the CDS and the PPM.
