Antonio Ruediger just introduced as a player Real Madrid. At a press conference, he admitted that he had been approached Barcelonabut he ignored it.
Ruediger, who left Chelsea with a free transfer status, is also known to be interested in Barcelona. Moreover, the Catalan giant is currently in huge debt.
Being able to get the services of the German defender will feel like a ‘win a lot’ for Barcelona. In addition to having additional quality players, they don’t have to worry about transferring to other clubs.
But it turns out that Ruediger has decided to choose Madrid as his next destination. Moreover, Madrid has long been after him, and Chelsea never gave him a new contract until finally sanctioned by the British government.
“It’s true, there is interest from Barcelona. But I told my brother, the choice is Real (Madrid) or not at all,” said Ruediger when asked about the Barcelona rumors, quoted by ESPN.
“The first contact (from Madrid) was not to me, but to my agent. It happened in September last year. Then the second, when I spoke with (Carlo) Ancelotti, was in April.”
“That’s the important moment. That’s when I made the decision (to join Madrid),” explained Ruediger, who has also played for AS Roma and Stuttgart earlier in his career.
Ruediger will be contracted by Madrid for four seasons. He will wear the number 22 jersey that Isco left behind this summer.
