Ronaldo and Messi largely in the lead
Top scorer in the history of C1 with 130 goals, Cristiano Ronaldo logically sits at the top of the standings among the players qualified for the 2020-2021 edition. He is followed by Lionel Messi, with 15 fewer goals. The chasm is huge with the third player on the podium, Robert Lewandowski. The Pole has scored 68 goals since his debut in the competition, 62 lengths behind Ronaldo.
Note, the presence of two French players in the Top 10: Karim Benzema scored 65 goals in 120 European matches, Antoine Griezmann has scored 23 times in 63 games. Gonzalo Higuain, with 24 goals in 83 appearances, could have stolen 10th place from the Frenchman, but he joined Inter Miami this summer and will not be in the Champions League this season.
