– It’s totally unacceptable. It is also quite embarrassing for the Minister of Health that NRK is uncovering this, and not internal control systems, ”parliamentary representative Tellef Inge Mørland (Ap) told NRK.
The Data Inspectorate has asked Oslo University Hospital, the University Hospital of Northern Norway and the hospital in Østfold to explain why confidential patient information was publicly available online.
On Thursday, the four parties sent a letter to the Minister of Health, calling him into the Storting.
The Ministry of Health says that it is the hospitals’ responsibility to secure patient information and emphasizes that they take a serious look at the violations.
– The Data Inspectorate will now look at the cases that have emerged, and see if there is a connection between them and whether there are similar issues. It is important that this work is done in a thorough way so that we know what is happening, says State Secretary Inger Klippen (H).
