Rome, municipal employees positive for the test, offices closed at the Ostiense

Via Ostiense 131 L: one of the largest offices of the Municipality of Roma, hundreds of travets, crucial offices, from that of fines to that of Economic Resources, to Personnel. Tomorrow, all closed. Cause maxi-sanitation. The reason? “Some employees tested positive for the serological test for Covid-19The city administration informed a note yesterday afternoon. And so pending the swab – the only valid tool to understand if the employees are still contagious or if they contracted Covid long ago and no longer have a viral load – the Capitol ran for cover, starting an extraordinary sanitation of all offices. However, after the lockdown, “they had not reopened to the public”, they remarked at Palazzo Senatorio.

In short, assuming that it is a possible, new outbreak, it would be limited to municipal employees, the danger that it would multiply even more, extending the risks to hundreds of people entering and leaving that office, would not exist. In any case, the outcome of the swabs will be decisive: if even one of the 3 employees who developed antibodies to the coronavirus will be positive for the nose-pharyngeal examination, therefore contagious, the site will be closed for at least a week. Until yesterday evening, they knew nothing about the affair in the Lazio Region. Moreover, the three employees – who worked on Human Resources, in the payroll structure – were “intercepted” through the serological investigation started independently by the Municipality, by choice of the mayor Virginia Raggi. The tests are carried out by the IPA, the municipal employee pension institution. After a first phase that involved urban police, blood samples were gradually extended to all categories of employees, always on a voluntary basis.

About seventy “municipal” after serological tests have discovered that they have contracted the virus, but none, for the moment, has been found positive for the swab. In short, the infection had developed without symptoms and in the meantime the employees had recovered. “Now we have been asked by the Municipality to increase the tests”, explains Commissioner Ipa, Fabio Serini.

Meanwhile, in Lazio in the last 24 hours there have been 14 new virus positives (18 on Saturday): 6 are in Rome city. No one is referable to the Fiumicino cluster which in recent days has led to the closure of a restaurant and a bar kiosk. «The outbreak is under control – ensures the Lazio Health Councilor, Alessio D’Amato – more than 1,100 swabs were performed at the drive-in in Casal Bernocchi for the epidemiological investigation and are not currently positive between the customers of the two restaurant business. I want to thank the operators for the extraordinary work done in the last 48 hours ».

Of the new infections registered yesterday, 7 refer to a family residing in the area between Anzio and Ardea, an outbreak that emerged in recent days. According to the experts of the Regional Health Service, therefore, the cases can “be considered limited to the narrow family environment”. A Pakistani who has just returned from his country of origin is also positive at Covid: international contact tracing has been started to reconstruct the frequent visits of the last few days and the passengers who have traveled with him by plane. In the ASL Roma 1, instead, two clochards “intercepted” in the emergency room of San Giovanni and Santo Spirito were tested and found positive.
