Roger Federer Makes Rare Public Appearance Playing Tennis at Laver Cup 2023

September 24, 2022 marked the farewell of the tennis legend Roger Federer, now a year later he still retains the finesse, elegance and magic in his playing tool.

His racket still gives off that sweet sound of a perfectly executed shot. Today he no longer demonstrates it professionally, which makes his rare public appearances playing tennis take on greater relevance..

Present in Vancouver for the Laver Cup 2023, the Swiss did a clinic with juniors behind closed doors in which he once again took out his legendary Wilson, to take a few hits and remember good old times.

I am very happy and excited to be here. It will be short but sweet. Three full days, full of action,” said Federer upon his arrival in Vancouver.

The Swiss, who wore the blue uniform in the Laver Cup in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2022, admits that he is not exactly impartial. “There’s something in me that’s Team Europe,” he smiled.

And thinking about his future, he assured: “Maybe one day I will be the captain of the team. There are no plans at the moment, but I think it could be pretty good.”

The Laver Cup will take place in Vancouver between Friday, September 22 and Sunday, September 24. In the last edition, which was held in London, Roger Federer retired from tennis and Rest of the World won his first Laver Cup.
