Keeping a low profile since the Wimbledon 2021 quarter-final, tennis player Roger Federer reappeared in a video from his sponsor Barilla in which he grants the wish of one of his fans Zizou, whose real name is Izyan Ahmad, by playing at tennis with him, thus keeping his promise made to the young boy during the US Open 2017.
Posted on Tuesday August 8 on the Italian brand’s Youtube channel, the day of the Swiss player’s birthday, the video called “Promise” immortalizes this moment mixing humor and emotions. For the record, Izyan Ahmad, the young 12-year-old fan, made the buzz on Youtube by asking Roger Federer, during the 2017 US Open, to play another “seven or eight years” on the circuit in order to make possible a match against each other. Incredible but true, the 103-title holder fulfilled his promise, five years later, by sharing a tennis match with his fan who seems to be living a daydream throughout the video.
Zizou is now one of the best U12s in the United States and trains at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy on Randall Island in New York.
