Rocket League will no longer be playable online on Mac and Linux – News

Bad news for fans of cars and balloons with a Mac or the Linux operating system. Rocket League will no longer be offering online functionality on these two media in the coming months.

Indeed, it was in an ad published on Steam that the Psyonix studio said that the game Rocket league will no longer be compatible with Mac and Linux from March.

As we continue to upgrade Rocket League with new technologies, it is no longer viable for us to maintain support for macOS and Linux (SteamOS) platforms. As a result, the latest patch for the macOS and Linux versions of the game will be in March.

Once players receive this fateful update, the game will be playable online only on machines running Windows 7 or a newer version of the Microsoft operating system. However, even if it is not directly supported by the Rocket League game, Psyonix offers an alternative to be able to continue playing the game. The studio therefore recommends using the Apple Boot Camp tool to simulate a system of Windows operation on Mac or the Proton application or the Wine tool for gamers on Linux.

To summarize, Psyonix has posted the full list of features that will still be available in the Rocket League after the release of the patch released in March. As announced, it will simply be different offline features.

Offline features available in detail

  • Local match
  • Split screen game
  • Garage (All personalization items obtained will not be removed from the inventory)
  • Career statistics
  • replays
  • Steam Workshop Maps (to download before the final patch)
  • Custom Training Packs (to download before the final patch)
