“Rocket from Sweden Falls in Norway: Norwegian Authorities Take Unauthorized Activity Seriously”

Jakarta

Rocket origin Sweden experienced problems so that it did not go in the right direction, but instead entered its neighboring territory Norway and fell on a mountain. Norway also took this incident seriously.

quoted detikINET from News Sky.com, Thursday (27/04/2023), the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the authorities take any unauthorized activity on its side of the border very seriously. Moreover, the Swedish side seemed to cover it up.

“The ministry was not formally notified, and when an incident like this occurs it is important that those responsible immediately notify the Norwegian authorities through the appropriate channels,” said Norwegian foreign ministry spokesman Ragnhild Simenstad.

The rocket intended for the research successfully reached orbit at an altitude of 250 km, where the experiment was carried out in zero gravity before derailing.

“The rocket flew a little longer and more west than calculated,” said the Sweden Space Corporation (SSC), which was responsible for launching it.

The rocket and its payload fell in a mountainous area on the territory of Norway. The area is 40 km further northwest of the previously planned landing site. Luckily, no casualties or damage occurred

“The rocket landed in an area where no one lives, and 10 km from the nearest settlement,” said SSC’s Philip Ohlsson.

It was launched from the Esrange Space Center near Kiruna, Sweden at 7:20 a.m. local time (1220 GMT), and was supposed to land in an area near the border. Currently, work is underway to recover the rocket’s payload and investigations will find out the technical reasons behind the unplanned flight path.
