CINCINNATI, OH – Robert “Bob” Vogel, a world champion competitive shooter, was arrested in Hamilton County, Ohio, and faces six criminal charges related to child pornography, according to court records filed November 11, 2023. Teh arrest of the 64-year-old Vogel, a resident of Liberty Township, Ohio, has sent shockwaves through the shooting sports community.
Vogel is charged wiht the following offenses:
- Pandering Obscenity Involving a Minor – Produce Materials
- Pandering Obscenity Involving a Minor – Produce, Create, Direct Obscene Performance
- Pandering Obscenity Involving a Minor – Buy, Procure, Possess obscene Material
- Disrupting Public Service – Mass Communications Service
- Offenses Involving Underage Persons – Sell to/Purchase alcohol for minors (Two counts)
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Vogel’s residence, leading to the discovery of the alleged illegal materials. Details of the inquiry, including the source of the initial tip, have not been publicly released.
Vogel has a distinguished career in competitive shooting, specializing in International Skeet. He has represented the united States in numerous international competitions, including the Olympics, and has won multiple national and world championships. He is a former member of the U.S.Shooting Team and has been a prominent figure in the shooting community for decades. He is also a certified shooting instructor.
The charges of “Disrupting Public Service – Mass communications Service” suggest the alleged activity involved the use of internet infrastructure for the distribution or access of the illegal content. The two counts related to alcohol sales to minors are separate from the primary charges and indicate additional alleged unlawful behavior.
Vogel’s initial court appearance is scheduled in the coming days at the Hamilton County Courthouse. He faces meaningful penalties if convicted on any of the charges, including lengthy prison sentences and substantial fines. He is currently being held at the Hamilton County Detention Center.
