Robert Neubauer agrees to candidacy

RUSSELSHEIM – Ruesselsheim. On September 10th, an extraordinary association day of the Hessian Football Association (HFV) will be held in the sports school in Grünberg. Because it is to decide on the replacement of top offices. The Presidium proposes to elect Torsten Becker (previously Vice-President) to succeed the resigned President Stefan Reuss. After the resignation of Ralf Viktora, hurry is required when it comes to the Treasurer so that the HFV remains legally competent: The Supervisory Board is to appoint Jörn Metzler (district football manager Limburg-Weilburg) to this office at short notice. Thorsten Bastian, the previous chairman of the association committee for game operations and football development (association football warden), is to become vice president. The then vacant post of association footballer is to be taken over by Robert Neubauer, the previous regional representative for southern Hesse.

In two phone calls with Becker, Neubauer was asked two questions: would he be willing in principle to run for the reorganization of the HFV team? “For me, there was no question of helping the HFV,” says the 67-year-old from Rüsselsheim. He only made it dependent on the area of responsibility, which was the subject of the second interview. So he asked for time to think about it, in order to have various consultations. Namely with the other five regional officers and with some district football waiters, especially the southern Hessian districts. Since he was encouraged by all those interviewed, he promised Becker his candidacy.

If elected, Neubauer would give up the office of regional representative. His deputy, the Odenwald district football manager Hartmut Schwöbel, would be available as his successor. This has already been clarified with him. Schwöbel would have to be elected in a regional meeting: “We would convene that very quickly,” explains Neubauer.

The native of Walldorf has already decided what will become of his current classes: Schwöbel would be ready for the Darmstadt group league. The District Oberliga Darmstadt/Groß-Gerau is managed by an official from the Groß-Gerau football district. District football manager Horst Feidner will take care of who this would be after Neubauer. The successor in the Verbandsliga Süd still has to be coordinated between the Darmstadt and Frankfurt regions.

As chairman of the association committee for game operations and football development, Neubauer would probably take over a new class management. In the past, there was always the automatism that the association football warden led the Hessenliga, currently Thorsten Bastian: “But that’s not inevitable,” explains Neubauer. The association game committee decides on the class management from Hessen to group league. Neubauer uses the example of the Hessen Cup with his class teacher Jörg Wolf (regional representative Gießen/Marburg) to illustrate that the highest competitions do not necessarily have to be led by the association football warden.

But first of all, Neubauer had to emerge from the meeting as an association footballer: “I can’t really assume that I’ll be elected.”
