Robert Lewandowski on the cancellation of the Golden Ball: See what I did throughout the season

– The situation was the same for everyone. See what we’ve been doing all season, what I’ve done. I hope that something will change in the next few months – said Robert Lewandowski, who in an interview with ESPN once again referred to the cancellation of the Golden Ball plebiscite. The Polish representative also revealed when he wants to end his football career.

A few weeks ago, the entire football world commented on the decision of the representatives of “France Football”. The French magazine, which regularly organizes the Golden Ball plebiscite – the most prestigious award for the best footballer of the year – has decided to cancel this year’s edition. Reason? According to the organizers, choosing the best player in a season interrupted by the pandemic would be unfair.

– One of them (footballers – editorial note) had ten matches behind him and two weeks off, the other ended the season in their country much earlier, and the others had to play matches one after the other without rest. Such a lack of justice violates the rules of the Golden Ball, said Pascal Ferre, editor-in-chief of France Football.

Robert Lewandowski disagreed with the decision of the French magazine, who outclassed his rivals in individual achievements during last season, and together with Bayern Munich he won all possible trophies. The Polish striker again referred to the matter in an interview with “ESPN”.

– The situation was the same for everyone. See what we’ve been doing all season, what I’ve done. It was an amazing season. The year is not over yet, I hope something will change in the next few months. The finished season was spectacular for us, but who knows what will happen in two or three months. I focus on my work and we’ll see what happens. The important thing is not to think about what has already been done, but about what else you can do, ”said Lewandowski.
