Robert Alberts has received an exorbitant offer, not from Persib

Bandung

Trainer Persib Bandung Robert Rene Alberts unveiled the biggest offer of his coaching career. Not from Maung Bandung.

The offer came during Robert’s career in Singapore around 1996-1999. Previously, the Dutch meneer ‘s achievements were quite impressive with Kedah FA, he won the Malaysia Cup title, then coached Tanjong Pagar and Home United. He also won the Singapore League title with Home United in 1999.

“And the biggest offer I ever received was from Torino when I was in Singapore, so at that time there were several offers coming from Europe,” said Robert, Monday (19/10/2020).

“At the moment there is no (offer from Europe). I have been waiting too long. At the beginning of my career as a coach, I had several good offers from European teams,” he said.

Previously, offers from Europe had approached him from Kalmar (Sweden), Hamarkameratene (Norway), New Zealand and France.

But he did not take the offer, because he preferred to coach the South Korean U-19 and Malaysia national teams.

Only then in 2009, Robert moved to Indonesia and became a tactician for Arema Malang. Together with Singo Edan, his career became increasingly successful by becoming the first foreign coach to deliver the 2019/2010 ISL title.

At home living in Indonesia, the former Vancouver Whitecaps then pursued a career with PSM Makassar. He had returned to Sarawak FA in Malaysia for four seasons, then returned to PSM until the 2019 season.

“But in recent years there have been no offers from Europe, because no one knows me, that’s natural. Because I chose to stay here for quite a long time,” he said.
