Rob Edwards Appointed Wolverhampton Wanderers Head Coach
Wolverhampton, England – November 8, 2023 – Rob Edwards has been confirmed as teh new head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers, tasked with revitalizing the club amid a challenging run of form. The appointment marks a return to Wolves for Edwards, who previously represented the club as a player and served in various coaching roles.
Edwards’ association with Wolves began in 2004 with his arrival from Aston Villa as a player, enjoying four seasons with the team. He later rejoined in 2014 as an academy coach, progressing to first-team coach and briefly serving as caretaker manager for two matches. Following a managerial spell at Telford, Edwards returned to Wolves as their Under-23 head coach.
“We are at a new chapter for the club and Rob will be a key piece of that,” a club statement read.
Matt jackson, Wolves’ director of player recruitment and progress, emphasized the importance of edwards’ impact beyond tactics.”The energy that he brings off the field, we have to get it on to the pitch. We have to be realistic about where we are, and we definitely need to be held accountable. We now need to get that belief into the players quickly and think Rob will be great culturally for the whole football club.”
Harry Watling has followed Edwards from his previous role at Middlesbrough, joining the backroom staff. Further coaching appointments are expected before Edwards takes charge for the first time on november 22nd against Crystal Palace at Molineux, where Wolves will aim to end a four-game losing streak.
