Road repairs have started near Malta and Aknīste

On Wednesday, August 5, the reconstruction of the road surface on the Viļāni – Ružina – Malta (P59) road started from the intersection with the Silmala – Kruki motorway (V582) to Malta (km 22.75–29.07), reports Latvijas Valsts ceļi ”.

There will be a speed limit of 70 and 50 km / h this week. Within the framework of construction works, sediment repair and profile repair, as well as surface treatment will be performed. The drainage system will also be arranged and bus stops will be restored. Construction works are performed by SIA Binders for the contract price of 832 thousand euros (including VAT).

On the other hand, on the road Siliņi – Aknīste – Lithuanian border (P74) pavement restoration works have started in the section from the intersection with the motorway Leimaņi – Mežgale – Grāvīši (V790) to Aknīste (km 13.41–22.50). From Wednesday, August 5, the section of the road in question is regulated by traffic lights and the speed limit is 70 and 50 km / h. As part of the construction works, the sediment will be repaired, a leveling layer of asphalt concrete in the length of 2 km will be laid, as well as surface treatment will be performed. The works are performed by SIA Sweet traveler for the contract price of 415 thousand euros (including VAT).

The construction costs of both road sections are covered from additional funding of 75 million euros, within the framework of the state budget. The repairs are planned to be completed by October.
