Road Blocking Action in Ricina Madina, Deputy Police Headquarters Car Burned by Masses

A group of people from Mompang Julu Village, North Panyabungan, Mandailing Natal (Madina), North Sumatra, were involved in a riot. The mass blockaded the Sumatra crossing road (Jalinsum) to set fire to the Madina Wakapolres official car.

“The action of blocking Jalinsum in Mompang Julu Village by some people demands demanding the post of Mompang Julu Village Chief, Panyabungan Utara, Mandailing Natal,” said North Sumatra Police Public Relations Commissioner Tatan Dirsan Atmaja, when asked for confirmation, Monday (6/29/2020).

Tatan said the action took place at 10.30 WIB earlier. In the action, they asked for clarification from the Head of Mompang Julu Village, Hendri Hasibuan, about the 2018 and 2020 village budgets.

“Asking the Regent of Madina to revoke the decree of the Head of Mompang Julu Village. Asking law enforcement officers to examine, arrest, village heads with alleged misappropriation of village funds,” said Tatan.

Then the masses carried out a roadblock. Negotiations ensued so that the road blockade was opened and processed the mass demands by no later than five days.

However, the road blockade crowd did not accept and asked the Madina Regent to immediately issue a letter of dismissal from the village head. In the mediation results there was no meeting point and they blocked the road.

Then, at 17:00 IWST, the masses became increasingly out of control and acted anarchically. Then, attacking members of the TNI-Polri using wood and stone.

“As a result of the attack the mob carried out an act of burning 1 unit of motorcycle, 1 unit of Suzuki Baleno car and 1 unit of Madina Wakapolres official car. Then, there were 6 members of Madina Regional Police who suffered stone throwing injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Panyabungan Regional Hospital,” said Tatan.

At present, the blockade continues. The clerk is still at the location. Officers continue to carry out negotiation steps.

“Until now it is still blocking the road, the Chief of Police continues to make efforts (calm the masses),” said Tatan.
