RKC delivers second topper FC Twente surprising second defeat in Eredivisie | NOW

On Friday evening FC Twente ran into the second league defeat of the season. In Enschede, low flyer RKC Waalwijk was surprisingly too strong with 0-2.

Due to goals from Cyril Ngonge and Finn Stokkers in the first half, the final score was already on the board after half an hour. The home team did very little in return and after the good start to the season, it was put with both feet on the ground.

Until Friday, FC Utrecht was the only team to beat Twente this season. At the end of October it became 2-1 for the Domstedelingen in Stadion de Galgenwaard.

Due to the first home defeat, Twente must fear that it will lose the connection with the sub-top. The tukkers are still fifth, but can be overtaken later this weekend by sc Heerenveen, AZ and FC Groningen.

Where Twente thus suffered its second defeat in this Eredivisie season, RKC only booked its second victory. The Waalwijkers therefore rise to eleventh place, although all teams below that have a match credit.

Celebrated attack Twente toothless against RKC

RKC was definitely not inferior to Twente in the Grolsch Veste, so the lead at halftime was not undeserved. Ngonge opened the score with a volley halfway through the first half, after a great action and a pass by Ola John.

After half an hour, John also acted as the principal at the 0-2. He stole the ball from the sloppy Kik Pierie and sent Stokkers into the depths. The striker smashed the ball beautifully into the roof of the goal.

RKC had to deal with a setback in the break, when double declarant John was unable to continue due to an injury. However, the Waalwijkers did not have to exert themselves excessively in the second half to remain upright defensively and to win the rightful victory.

That things were not going well at Twente, is evident from the fact that trainer Ron Jans took his top scorer Danilo (nine goals) to the side half an hour before the end.

Vaclav Cerný, the other half of the Twente royal couple, was allowed to stand for ninety minutes, but played a yellow card in injury time after an anonymous match. The fresh forces were also unable to save the Tukkers from defeat in the final phase.
