Rizieq Shihab Actively Cecar Prosecutor’s Witness, Attorney at Law: His Knowledge is Better than Lawyers. Page all

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – A member of Rizieq Shihab’s legal team, Aziz Yanuar, gave his opinion about his client who was actively harassing witnesses during a crowd case trial at the East Jakarta District Court, Monday (12/4/2021).

In a trial with an agenda of hearing witness testimony, the public prosecutor (JPU) presented 10 witnesses.

Generally, it is the defendant’s lawyer who harasses witnesses from the prosecutor in order to defend the client before the panel of judges.

However, Rizieq was more vocal in his search for witnesses than his team of attorneys.

Aziz admitted that his party allowed Rizieq to act in this way according to the agreement they had made before the trial began.

“Yes, indeed. We respect Habib who wants to do moreexplore. We just need to give input (the points asked to the witness), like that, “said Aziz at the East Jakarta District Court, Monday (12/4/2021).

Aziz added that they were not worried about Rizieq’s action. He considered that his client had better knowledge than his own legal team.

“Yes, he (Rizieq Shihab) has the right (to ask questions to witnesses) and we also respect and we are happy. He just lacks a degree in law, but his knowledge is better than us (lawyers),” he said.

As explained by Aziz, his party admitted that they were satisfied with the answers of the witnesses to all questions raised by Rizieq during the trial.

His party felt that these answers proved that the prosecutor’s charges were not proven.

Therefore, Aziz and Rizieq’s team of attorneys are increasingly prepared and confident in facing a further trial which will be held next week with the agenda of still examining witnesses from the prosecutor.

Rizieq’s cecaran

Previously, the prosecutor presented several witnesses such as the Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Terminal 3 Police Station Dahmirul and the former Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Heru Novianto.

Rizieq asked Dahmirul a number of questions in a row so that a statement from the witness came out that no one had mobilized the mass of Rizieq sympathizers to gather at Soetta Airport.

“Then who gathered the crowd inside? Crowded at the airport?” asked Rizieq.

“Nothing,” answered Dahmirul.

Rizieq then asked whether the mass of his sympathizers had gathered spontaneously in the airport area.

“Spontaneously,” answered Dahmirul.

“Without any engineering and so on? Thank you, this is a very good answer,” said Rizieq.

Meanwhile to Heru, Rizieq made the witness state that no new cluster was created from the crowd in Petamburan, Central Jakarta.

Initially, Rizieq asked Heru whether the transmission of Covid-19 was carried out after the celebration in Petamburan.

“Of the approximately 500 people tested rapidly, there were 5 reactive ones,” Heru replied in the trial.

Heru continued, the 500 people tested were all Petamburan residents.

“The five (residents who were reactive in rapid testing) had any information that they were present at the Mawlid (event)?” replied Rizieq.

“I don’t know,” answered Heru.

Rizieq then asked for definite data regarding the existence of the Covid-19 cluster due to the Petamburan celebration.

“Is there any official information, after the tracing was there a new cluster called the Petamburan cluster?” asked Rizieq.

“Nothing,” answered Heru.

“Is there a new cluster called the Habib Rizieq Shihab cluster, is there a new cluster called the Maulid Petamburan cluster?”

“Nothing.”

For information, yesterday’s trial was for the examination of witnesses in case number 221 for defendant Rizieq Shihab regarding the crowd in Petamburan.

Then case number 222 for the defendants Haris Ubaidillah, Ahmad Sabri Lubis, Ali Alwi Alatas, Idrus alias Idrus Al-Habsyi, and Maman Suryadi was related to the crowd case in Petamburan.

Then, case number 226 for the defendant Rizieq was related to the crowd case at Pondok Pesantren Alam Agrokultural Megamendung, Bogor.

Rizieq’s trial will be resumed on Monday (19/4/2021) with the agenda of hearing witness testimony from the prosecutor. (Bima Putra / Tribun Jakarta)
