RIVM calls on six provinces not to burn wood | Inland

The so-called heating alert applies to Gelderland, Utrecht, South Holland, Zeeland, North Brabant and Limburg. The weather conditions are expected to remain unfavorable on Tuesday to light the fireplace or stove.

Health complaints can arise because wood smoke contains all kinds of harmful substances, from particulate matter and carbon monoxide to benzene and so-called PAHs, which can be carcinogenic.

All the more so because people are now at home a lot, RIVM calls on everyone to follow the advice. “Be considerate of each other at this time.”

Limburg already had a heating alert on Sunday.
