Although the number of infections is again high, no deaths from corona infection have been reported in the region in the past 24 hours. One person has been hospitalized.

Until 10:00 this morning, 11,064 new corona infections were reported to RIVM. That is 606 more than yesterday. It is the first time since Christmas Day, almost seven months ago, that more than 11,000 positive tests have been registered in 24 hours.
On average, the number of positive corona tests is also increasing: in the past seven days, an average of 9191 positive tests were registered per day. That is four times as much as the seven days before.
The occupancy in the hospitals increased. There are now 230 people with corona in hospital (yesterday: 212), of whom 72 in the ICU (yesterday: 74), reports the National Coordination Center for Patients Spread.
The number of hospital admissions has been increasing for a week, especially outside the intensive care unit. The number of people in hospital is still much lower than, for example, a month ago, but it is increasing.

Which figures does Rijnmond use?
We use the figures that the RIVM publishes every day at 3:15 pm on this page. These figures come from the GGD Rotterdam-Rijnmond and the GGD Zuid-Holland Zuid, but can deviate from the corona dashboard per day.
This can be for various reasons, for example the time at which the figures are entered and the fact that our region consists of two GGDs. Both GGDs have a different working method with regard to the daily figures. By using the same source every day, we have the best view of developments over several days and weeks.
