Rising the Kebayoran Lama Skywalk Must Pay Reap Criticism of the Residents

Jakarta

Skywalk Kebayoran Lama in South Jakarta the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono was inaugurated. However, the skywalk is now receiving criticism because residents who only pass must pay.

Heru Budi inaugurated the Kebayoran Lama Skywalk on Friday (27/1). Heru hopes that the public can make the most of the skywalk.

The Kebayoran Lama Skywalk connects KRL transportation modes from Kebayoran Lama Station to the Velbak stop for transportation users who wish to continue their journey using the TransJakarta bus corridor 13, or the other way around.

As of today, residents who only want to use the skywalk without taking public transportation are charged IDR 3,500 via electronic card tap-in-tap. This policy was criticized by residents.

One of them is Putri (28) who wants to go to the Kebayoran KRL Station via the Pasar Kebayoran Corridor 8 bus stop. He is required to tap in at the Corridor 8 Bus Stop to be able to cross the Kebayoran Lama Skywalk.

“I didn’t take the Transjakarta, I just wanted to take the Skywalk from corridor 8. But Rp. 3,500 was deducted,” Putri told reporters, Monday (6/2/2023).

Putri said that the implementation of tap-in and tap-out had only started today. Previously, he was not charged a fee when taking the same route.

“Just happened today,” he said.

Putri admitted that there is another access that can be taken to the Kebayoran KRL Station besides going through the Kebayoran Lama Skywalk. However, access must cross the road and pass the vehicle.

“You can walk downstairs, via the sidewalk. But you have to cross the road and there’s no zebra crossing,” he said.

Skywalk Kebayoran Lama is not a public JPO

Head of DKI Jakarta Bina Marga Service Hari Nugroho emphasized that the skywalk is only intended for passengers of 3 modes of transportation. Hari said that the skywalk was not a public JPO.

“So it’s a skywalk to make it easier for passengers of the three modes of transportation, not as a public pedestrian bridge (JPO),” said Hari.

Hari explained that the skywalk was built to facilitate transit between modes of transportation. So that when crossing to the Transjakarta bus stop or Kebayoran KRL Station, passengers must tap in and tap out.

“Especially going to Transjakarta and KCI. So you have to use a card,” he explained.
