Riot demonstration, mass kills Iranian IRGC intelligence chief

TEHRAN – Demonstrations erupted in the city of Sahneh, Kermanshah province, leading to riots, Iran . Rioters killed Colonel Nader Bayrami, intelligence chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Citing news agency reports IRNAOn Saturday (11/19/2022), riots ensued on Friday as the government shut down internet access in several cities.

The demonstrations in the city were initially triggered by the funeral of a child killed by Iranian security forces.

Dozens of people attended the funeral of Kian Pirfalak (9) in the city of Izeh. Video inputonline publication it shows Pirfalak’s mother telling people at the memorial service that her son was shot by security forces on Wednesday.

However, Iranian officials said Pirfalak was killed in a “terrorist” attack.

Meanwhile, Iranian forces shot three protesters in Kurdistan province, where Mahsa Amini is from, on Saturday (11/19/2022).

Amini was a young Iranian Kurdish woman who died on September 16 after being arrested by Tehran’s morality police on charges of violating the compulsory veil. It was Amini’s death that unleashed the demonstrations that are still almost uninterrupted today.

Iran’s leadership under Ayatollah Ali Khamenei faces its biggest challenge since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. It faced two months of violent demonstrations shortly after Amini’s death.
