Riga will celebrate St. Michael’s Day – Recreation with various family events

Celebrating one of the autumn traditions – St. Michael’s Day, several events will take place in Riga, including creative workshops, dances and games for children, as well as a concert, apple express exhibition, porridge cooking, shopping at the autumn harvest fair “Apple Festival in Ritum”.

On Saturday, September 26, children and their parents are welcome in the cultural center “Ilguciems”, where from A children’s morning dedicated to St. Michael’s Day will take place at 12.00. At the event, children will be able to both dance and play under the direction of the folklore group “Laiksne”.

On Sunday, September 27, from At 11.00 in the cultural center “Imanta”, children are invited to participate in the creative workshop of Miķeļītis ornaments “Miķelītis richāts vīrs”. Participants of the lesson will have the opportunity to learn about the importance of St. Michael’s Day celebrations and making decorations, as well as to make an autumn composition themselves under the guidance of a teacher. To celebrate St. Michael’s Day, an event “Apple Festival in Ritum” will take place in the cultural center “Ritums”. On Sunday in the center branch, 43A Ieriķu Street, from From 12.00 to 15.00, visitors will be able to enjoy a loud concert, a delicious autumn mess, see an express exhibition of Latvian apple varieties, buy vegetables grown in the Latvian countryside and get involved in creative workshops.

The festive concert will be conducted by talented sisters – Katrīna and Laima Dimantas, folk melodies will be sung by folklore groups “Garataka”, “Grodi”, “Skandinieki”, “Lāns”, “Savieši”, “Banga”, “Berendejka”, “Berendejka” youth group, “Budēļi” and “Laiva” as well as the Riga Chamber Choir “Vox Animae”, while the children’s dance group “Kamolītis” will dance their favorite dances.
