Riga Opera Festival Gala concert at the Latvian National Opera / LR3 / / Latvijas Radio 3

Live from the Latvian National Opera – Riga Opera Festival Gala concert with Italian and French opera music in the operas of Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Charles Gounod, Jacques Offenbach and Georges Bizet, as well as Richard Wagner’s operas “Lohengrin” and “Nuremberg Masterpieces”. The concert program created by musical director and conductor Mārtiņš Ozoliņa will feature guest artists – laureates of many competitions, Teatro alla Scala member of the Academy, tenor azers zada from Azerbaijan, soloist of the National Opera of Ukraine, soprano Look MatusenkoMongolian bass Baterdene Doržcedens and the mezzo-soprano already known to the Latvian public Anna Matisa. They will be joined by the great bass-baritone Egils Silins and soloists of the Latvian National Opera Julia Vasilieva and Mikhail Chulpaevas well as the Latvian National Opera Orchestra.

In the interlude – conversations with Egilus Siliņa, director of the National Opera and Ballet Theater and member of the Gala concert, conductor Mārtiņas Ozoliņa, singer Jūlija Vasiļjeva and guests whom we are hearing for the first time in Latvia – Azerbaijani tenor Azer Zada, who has been living and working in Italy for many years, and Kyiv Opera soloist Olha Matushenko, who has now arrived in Latvia as a refugee.
