‘Riga’ loses ‘Kriļja Sovetov’ in MHL home game

Russian Youth Hockey League (MHL) team “Riga” on Sunday lost to the team of Moscow “Krillia Sovetov”.

Danila Larionov scored two goals for Rigans, Miks Tumanovs scored one.

At the end of the third minute, Larionovs put the home team in the lead after Mika Tumanova and Denisa Fjodorova passed.

However, then the guests took the initiative, already in the first period, putting the Moscow team in the lead with two accurate shots by Yegor Zudilov. The first of them took place 16 seconds after Larionov nominated “Riga”. The guests reached 4: 1 in the 43rd minute, after which the Rigans started playing.

Twice the housemates managed to realize the majority. In the 48th minute, Larionov succeeded in assisting Fyodorov and Nikita Matejko, but in the 52nd minute, after another Fyodorov pass, Tumanov scored.

The visitors secured the majority 19 seconds before the end of the match, sending the puck into the empty goal.

“Riga” with 32 points in 33 games in the Western zone ranks tenth, but “Kriļja Sovetov” with 24 points in 23 dues is in the table of the next tournament.

Both teams will meet again in Riga on Monday.

The series of 14 home games for the Riga team will last until January 14.

Last season’s MHL team “Riga” head coach Raimonds Vilkoits and his assistant Alexander Niživijs joined the Continental Hockey League (KHL) unit Riga “Dinamo” coaching staff, while Valērijs Kuļibaba and Sergejs Durdins took over their duties.

Last season, the Riga team took the seventh place in the Western Conference in the regular championship, but in the first round of the playoffs, Yaroslavl’s “Loko” gave up 0-3.
