‘Riga Jurmala’ Academy returns with online and face-to-face master classes

Music festival “Riga Jurmala” announces the resumption of the festival’s educational program, “Riga Jurmala” academy. In online and face-to-face master classes, young talents from Latvia, the Baltic States and elsewhere in Europe will be able to participate in educational sessions with world-class musicians – artists who have already performed at the festival or plan to do so in the summer of 2021.

According to the organizers of the festival, it has already been confirmed that in the first master classes, which will take place online from December this year, young talents will be able to participate with leading Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw orchestra renowned French violinist Reno Capison and mec Kutu.

“We are extremely happy to resume work this year, offering our new talents to meet, communicate and learn from the best musicians. In response to the events caused by the pandemic, the Riga Jurmala Academy changed the initially planned format in the 2020 season by organizing online master classes for students from Latvia and the Baltic States. Throughout the summer, 30 master classes took place with the participation of leading musicians from the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Natalia Schwab (piccolo), Lionel Cote (cello), Julita Smolen (violin), Tobias Steiman (violin), Jihie Lee (violin), Bettin Fais. Ramona Ortega Kuero (oboe), Benedict Heims (viola) and world-class performers such as cellist Miša Maiskis, classical guitar virtuoso MILOŠ and Norwegian pianist Leif Ūve Andsness.
