The continental hockey league unit of Riga “Dinamo” has signed a full-fledged agreement with the Canadian defender Matthew Mayonnaise, the club informs.
Less than two weeks ago, the Riga team signed a probationary agreement with the 29-year-old Canadian.
Last season, Majone represented three KHL teams – Beijing “Kunlun Red Star ”, Minsk“ Dinamo ”and Riga“ Dinamo ”. He went on the field in 23 games, in which he scored with four assists and a negative efficiency of -4.
The hockey player was also a member of Riga “Dinamo” in the 2018/2019 season, when he was one of the leaders of the people of Riga. In two seasons, together with “Dinamo”, the defender has played 62 games, in which he has accumulated 47 (11 + 36) performance points. In total, KHL gave him 50 (11 + 39) performance points, 36 penalty minutes and a +/- score of -19 in 81 matches.
Prior to that, the hockey player played in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), Slovakia and Finland.
On the last day of 2019, Mayonnaise triumphed in the prestigious Spengler Cup with a team of Canadians playing in Europe.
A month ago, Latvian specialist Pēteris Skudra was appointed the head coach of “Dinamo”, but he will be assisted by the head coach of the Russian Youth Hockey League (MHL) team “Rīga” last season, Raimonds Vilkoits and his assistant Aleksandrs Ņiživijs.
Last season, “Dinamo” took the penultimate place in the Western Conference and in the entire league, not qualifying for the Gagarin Cup for the sixth year in a row.
KHL’s new season is scheduled to start on September 2. The first game of the new season “Dinamo” will be played on September 3 with a game against Nursultan’s “Barands ”by entering a series of four home matches.
