Ricochet Was Initially Planned for The Hurt Syndicate, Reveals MVP
ATLANTA, GA – before forging his own path in All elite Wrestling (AEW), Ricochet was slated to join MVP’s The Hurt Syndicate, according to recent revelations from the wrestling veteran himself. MVP detailed the initial plans during an episode of his “Marking Out” podcast with Dwayne Swayze, explaining how shifting circumstances ultimately led Ricochet down a different, and arguably more successful, career trajectory.
The potential alliance arose during the transition period when MVP and Cedric Alexander where moving to AEW. At the time, Ricochet’s contract situation was still being negotiated.”Because Cedric was still under contract, we were coming over, and at the time you were still negotiating, there were a lot of pieces,” MVP explained to Ricochet on the podcast (via Fightful). “We’re like,’Okay,we’re gonna reunite and we’re gonna Ricochet’s gonna have that spot.’ but in our business, we have the saying: card subject to change.”
MVP described a planned in-ring moment with Bobby Lashley as the intended catalyst for Ricochet’s heel turn and induction into the group. “We did that spot in the ring with Bobby when he snatched you up, and that was supposed to have been like, where we start initiating Ricochet and where his character changes. He goes, and he becomes, ‘I hurt people,'” MVP recounted. However, Ricochet’s career path unexpectedly diverged, leading him to pursue opportunities outside of The Hurt Syndicate.
While acknowledging his initial desire to have Ricochet as a member, MVP ultimately believes the outcome was beneficial for the high-flying superstar. “As things sometimes happen organically, his career path went a entirely different way, and selfishly, like I wanted him in the Hurt Syndicate, but I dare say things worked out better for you as they are.”
A History of Near Misses: Ricochet and The Hurt Business
This isn’t the first time Ricochet’s name has been linked to a potential alignment with MVP’s stable. Prior to the formation of The Hurt Business in WWE, Ricochet was also considered for a spot within the group. However, the role ultimately went to Cedric Alexander, marking the beginning of a successful run for Alexander within the faction alongside MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin.
The Hurt Syndicate,a newer iteration of MVP’s stable, currently features a similar dynamic in AEW,aiming to establish dominance through a combination of power and strategic alliances. The revelation about Ricochet adds another layer of intrigue to the group’s history and highlights the frequently enough-fluid nature of plans within the professional wrestling industry.
Ricochet currently competes in AEW, showcasing his signature aerial offense and captivating audiences with his dynamic in-ring style. His career continues to evolve, demonstrating the adaptability and resilience required to thrive in the competitive world of professional wrestling.
