The Puerto Rican artist, Ricky Martin, sent on Monday a message of support for the “claim for respect, justice and peace,” during demonstrations protesting the handling of supplies in Puerto Rico.
The Puerto Rican questioned the government’s response and indicated that he was with the people.
He announced that “I will soon accompany you on this claim”, although he did not abound in what kind of participation he would have.
Then the message:
“What happened in a warehouse in Ponce, Puerto Rico is an act of insensitivity, abuse and irresponsible irresponsibility.
In the moments of greatest need of our people, those who assume they are the leaders have failed again.
They have again lacked the most basic rights of human beings: water, roof, education, security … They did it with evil. There is no other explanation.
But, among so much indignation and to everyone’s comfort, I see the people, ours, awake, attentive and above all, standing. Fighting, defending, caring for, protecting and giving away love throughout this treasure that is our Puerto Rico. In this video you can see a united people and I from here, celebrating such a solid and beautiful alliance with our friends from @SERPuertoRico. We join forces to bring well-being to those who need it most after the earthquakes in the south of my land.
I’m with you. Feeling the pain and firm in defending what corresponds, what is worthy for all. I’m on my way to Puerto Rico. Very soon I will accompany you again in this claim of respect, justice and peace. There I see them, my island.
