Former world champion Jose Ramirez on March 25 in the United States won an early victory in a qualifying match for the WBC light welterweight title over another former world champion Richard Commey.
The fight turned out quite spectacular. His start was in the middle distance in an exchange where Ramirez was better, and then Commey began to break the distance. The 30-year-old Ramirez took a break and knocked down the 36-year-old Commey in the eleventh round, and then Commey, after another successful attack by the opponent, stepped back and knelt down and decided not to get up until the end of the referee countdown.
