RI Now Has Gold Recycling Post to Protect Consumers

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.comIndonesia now has a re-measuring post gold which is useful for ensuring the accuracy of measurement of gold transactions. The goal is to improve consumer protection.

The first gold re-measuring post owned by Indonesia is located in Kranggan Urban Village, Semarang, Central Java. The inauguration was carried out directly by the Minister of Trade Agus Suparmanto on Thursday (15/2020).

Agus said, re-measuring is one way for consumers to recheck the suitability of the quantity or weight of a product / item. So, with the existence of the gold re-measuring post, consumers can check the gold measurement results again from the transactions made.

“The existence of a re-measuring post is important in ensuring the accuracy of measurement results in gold trading transactions,” he said in a written statement, Friday (16/10/2020).

He explained that gold is a commodity that has a high value and price. So that if the weighing results are not accurate, it will result in consumers who will suffer losses.

“So it is important for the government to ensure the accuracy of the results of this weighing as a guarantee of consumer protection,” he said.

Director General of Consumer Protection and Trade Order (PKTN) Ministry of Trade Veri Anggrijono added that his party has the authority to carry out supervision to protect consumers from goods that do not comply with the provisions. This includes the use of measuring, measuring, weighing and equipment (UTTP).

This is stated in Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection and Law Number 2 of 1981 concerning Legal Metrology.

Previously, during the monitoring activities of UTTP equipment at a gold shop in the Kranggan area, Semarang, it was found that electronic scales with the ACS and CHQ brands did not have a type permit / factory mark, and did not have a tera sign used for trade. Both UTTP tools are secured.

“It is hoped that gold entrepreneurs will no longer use measuring instruments that are not intended for gold,” said Veri.
