But in fact, the majority of solar panels in the world are made in China, where about 70%-80% of solar panels are Chinese manufacturers.

In response to this, the Economist of the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (INDEF) Abra Talattov said that Indonesia’s electricity supply is currently in a condition of surplus or excess supply. Encouraging the use of PLTS means that there will be consequences that must be borne by PT PLN (Persero) as the electricity operator in this country.

“The private sector benefits because they both know the dominance of imports. So for the current condition the PLTS Roof component industry is still minimal, which benefits from overseas industries, especially China, which supplies especially modules and batteries for PV mini-grid products,” he told CNBC Indonesia. , Monday (01/11/2021).

According to him, PLTS components that are still mostly supplied from imports are modules and batteries. Since most of the PLTS components are still imported, he also suggested that the government should encourage the domestic component industry to be built first before intensifying PLTS.

“Tighten it domestically first, when the use of PLTS is still in accordance with the RUPTL, this component is sourced from within the country,” he said.

Furthermore, Abra said, by encouraging the component industry in the country, it will have an impact on increasing the added value of the industry. According to him, the mineral industry will be more utilized if the solar panel factory is built domestically.
