RGC – Marinakis: “We are not saying that we have done everything perfectly…”

“The only word that can take us forward is the word evaluation”, pointed out Pavlos Marinakis on the occasion of the tragedy in Tempi.

The secretary of the political committee of the ND, in the context of the 11th RGC Regional Development Conference, organized by the “Peloponnisos” newspaper at the conference and cultural center of the University of Patras, spoke about the mood of reorganization in view of the upcoming national elections.
“First of all, let me once again express my condolences to the relatives of the victims. For them, time has stopped and it is not the same for all of us” initially said Pavlos Marinakis and added: “We are not saying that there are no responsibilities, we are not saying that we have done everything perfectly and there are no pathogens. Greece has many pathologies, but the Greece of 2023 is better than the Greece of 2019.”

“GREECE IN 2023 IS BETTER”

“The government still has a lot to do and that’s why it should continue its effort. Now, in today’s Greece, things are happening that were not happening, Greece gives pensions faster, unemployment has decreased by 6.5 points, we have increases in the minimum wage and much more. We are not saying that everything is good, but we are saying that things have been done and on this basis we will have to step to build the rest as well”.
“Those responsible at the Railway Organization, as well as the leadership, should know about the mess at OSE” said Mr. Marinakis and added that: “We all have responsibility for this and for example is that the remote control contract had 10 extensions”.

“ASSESSMENT KEY WORD”

Mr. Marinakis spoke about what came out of the fatal collision in Tempi and referred to the evaluation. “One thing that came out of the tragic accident in Tempi is the term evaluation that the government is trying to bring” underlined Mr. Marinakis and added: “As you understand, for the tragedy to happen, a series of mistakes happened and for example from the ’22 the presence of two people was mandatory. But one left earlier.

The key word is evaluation, and the only one who proceeded by law in the evaluation in the State is the current government. Let’s remember what happened in Education, where a law was passed on evaluation and all the parties were against us, as a result of which we went to court.”

“KARAMANLIS ASSUMED POLITICAL RESPONSIBILITY”

Regarding the candidacy of the former minister Kostas Karamanlis on the ND ballots, Mr. Marinakis replied that “it is one thing for the minister, who resigned assuming political responsibility, and another thing for the deputy who is elected”, but in any case the decision it is the prime minister’s, who approves, when the time comes, the lists of candidates on the party’s ballot papers.

“ALEXIS TSIPRAS IS LYING”

At another point in the speech, Mr. Marinakis denounced the leader of the official opposition, Alexis Tsipras, saying that his statement during the interview on a television station that 72% of the remote control system was operating during his government is false.

“Truth is needed, not lies. Mr. Gerapetritis informed with official documents that what Mr. Tsipras said was a lie for the station masters all over Greece,” Mr. Marinakis emphasized and added: “They cannot point a finger at those who during their days not a single incident happened resignation and have on their ballots deputies with irrevocable decisions. They pretend and try to exploit the pain and anger of the citizens and they only care about the chair. The question is whether the citizens want us to go back.”

Among those who attended P. Marinaki’s speech were the ND MP Iasonas Fotilas, the president of DEEP Achaia Antonis Kounavis, the president of OLPA Panagiotis Tsonis, the deputy prefect of Achaia Takis Papadopoulos, the politician Efi Giannia, the candidate for mayor of Patreon, Kostas Svolis etc.
