Review: is this the best buy among the electric scooters?

The Chinese brand Kugoo has electric scooters in all shapes and sizes. From the cheapest Xiaomi clones to racing scooters that can reach more than 50 kilometers per hour. The latest addition to the Kugoo family is the G-Max. Bright tested it. Check out our review.

Solid

And what is especially striking is that it looks so good. Sturdy built with a large platform to put your feet on. It’s a bit in between the expensive ones Boosted Rev and the affordable Xiaomi M365 in. Also in terms of price. It varies a lot, now it is for sale for over 700 euros, but I have also seen it for 640 euros.

A big advantage is that the scooter is shipped from Germany, so you don’t pay any import costs and you only have to wait a few days. But 650 euros is still not little, you can buy e-scooters for 250 euros, but with the Kugoo you all get a little more.

For example, you can drive 35 kilometers with a full battery and the 500-watt motor ensures a top speed of 35 kilometers per hour. Then you have to have the wind in your back and not be too heavy.

Not completely convinced

Yet the scooter is not completely convincing. The Kugoo is solidly built and can take a beating and a rain shower, but I don’t know how the scooter will hold up after a year of intensive use. At my Xiaomi-step After a year of use I had a lot of play on the steering wheel and some other problems, so I fear that with this Kugoo too. Now I already feel some play on the steering wheel, it squeaks a bit while driving and it just feels a bit rickety every now and then.

The built-in screen on the steering wheel is also difficult to read in the sunlight and the stand is difficult to fold out and adjusted too high. That is why it can still fall over. Not all ideal.

The scooter is also in a difficult price segment. He doesn’t really belong to the cheap guys, there are great scooters that are a lot cheaper and have slightly lesser specs, but he is also not one of the really expensive bangers. I wonder who can spare 700 euros for a scooter without being able to do very special things. Soon I will be testing the Xiaomi M365 Pro 2 and the Xiaomi M365 1S and I suspect that you will get more value for your money there.
