Revamp of Retirement System – Refurbished Garbage Collection Facility in Saran: Metropolitan City of Orléans’ Sanitation Workers Impede Traffic on Tuesday, March 21st.

Monday, March 20, from 7 a.m., nearly a hundred people gathered at the roundabout at the entrance to the household waste treatment unit in Saran.

The watchword is simple: “We are not blocking traffic, we are setting up a towing operation. But we are preventing (trash) trucks from accessing Utom”, explains Yann Bouguennec, union representative.

This inevitably disrupts traffic in the area, but most motorists seem understanding. Some are even in solidarity with the movement and don’t hesitate to honk their horns to show it.

“We are here to last”

“We are here to last. Of course, everything will depend on the vote on the motions of censure this afternoon. But we will hold out as long as possible against this reform. The strike is renewable, every evening, we will meet to find out if we extend the movement”, continues Yann Bouguennec.

“It’s a general fed up. It’s not just the reform. The price of the shopping trolley, electricity, gas, fuel… It’s always the same people who have to make efforts while others are making huge profits, increasing themselves. With this reform, it is still up to us to make the effort. It is no longer happening.”

Railway workers are also present in solidarity with the garbage collectors, like Pierre Prodhomme, union representative Sud rail: “We come in solidarity with the garbage collectors. The anger was already there and the 49.3 added a layer of it”.

At 9 a.m. on Monday, March 20, traffic is severely disrupted in the pole 45 sector. There are major traffic jams in this very busy sector.

A large plug has formed near Pole 45.

An incident took place shortly before 10 a.m. An annoyed driver got out of his vehicle and pushed a protester to the ground. The police intervened to calm the situation. This is back in order.

The police intervened to calm things down.

According to the metropolis of Orleans, at 3:15 p.m., out of the 120 agents, about forty were on strike on Monday, a rate of 30%, including 5% over half a day.

The movement is renewed for the day of Tuesday March 21, this time from 5 am.
