They were eagerly awaited. The 92 Martinican students landed shortly after 9 p.m. at Aimé Césaire airport after a six-hour flight between Canada, Guadeloupe and Martinique. A journey that started this Saturday June 6, 2020 in Montreal in Canada.

It is a relief for the students of Martinique who returned home after a long wait of two months. Young people were faced with precarious situations: no money, no job, no psychological support, forced to make their homes isolated and especially away from their families.
After a flight to Guadeloupe, it was in two ATRs (Regional Transport Aircraft) that the 92 young people arrived at Aimé Césaire airport shortly after 9 p.m. this Saturday, June 6, 2020.

They were taken care of by the ARS Martinique and SOS KRIS teams, as part of the covid-19 pandemic protocol.

Parents have won their battle. Bring their children back from Canada. Grouped together in a collective, they tried all possible remedies, an open letter to the various authorities: the prefects of Martinique and Guadeloupe, the Minister for Overseas and the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs .
Alerted by the situation of Caribbean students stranded in Canada, the Guadeloupe Region, in partnership with the local authorities of Martinique, Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélémy, chartered an Air Caraïbes plane to repatriate them.

It is the end of a long journey for these young people. It was also a Mother’s Day gift a few hours early for mothers who found their children after months of waiting.
