Restraining Taliban Movement, Afghan Government Implements Night Clock

ACCEPT – The authorities Afghanistan enforced curfews in 31 of the country’s 34 provinces to curb the escalating violence of Taliban attacks in recent months.

The move was announced by the Afghan Interior Ministry.

“To curb violence and limit the movement of the Taliban, curfews have been imposed in 31 provinces across the country, except in Kabul, Panjshir and Nangarhar,” the Interior Ministry said.

“The night hours will be effective from 10.00 pm to 4:00 am,” said Ahmad Zia Zia, a spokesman for the Home Ministry in a separate statement to reporters.

Since early May, the Taliban have been waging wide-ranging attacks across the country. Rebels managed to seize border crossings, dozens of districts and besieged several provincial capitals.

With the US-led withdrawal of foreign troops nearing completion, the resurgent Taliban now control about half of Afghanistan’s roughly 400 districts.
