We learned some of the sales data of Capcom’s games by the way the recent publication of the financial report for the last quarter, but it was mostly focused on recently released titles. The publisher has finally updated the remaining statistics, so we can see the results of other productions.
Released over three years ago, the series in FPP Resident Evil 7 was found by the end of June 7.9 million buyers, making it the most popular installment of the cycle in history * and the second in the entire Capcom portfolio. Thus, it overtook the “five” and “six” (7.7 and 7.6 million respectively), but it cannot be sure of its position. The remake of the second part is catching up with them – from January 2019 it has sold in numbers 7.2 million copies. For comparison, the refreshed Resident Evil 3 released a few months ago can boast of 2.7 million, which is only the ninth result among Residentów (and 25th in the publisher’s history). We also recall that the entire series had sold over 100 million copies by July.
Of course, Monster Hunter: World z is still at the forefront of the ranking 16.1 million copies. The Iceborne expansion pack found 5.8 million buyers. The fifth Street Fighter z also advanced to the top ten 4.7 million pieces. Devil May Cry 5 tempted to buy 3.7 million people.
*Although here you can argue, because Capcom has a habit of counting the sales of the same production on different generations separately. When we summarize all releases, Resident Evil 5 boasts 11.8 million buyers.
